Gerald S. Packey

Gerald S. Packey, age 88, passed away on February 5, 2025. 

He was born on October 14, 1936, in Alliance, to Stephen and Ethel Packey.

Gerald graduated from Alliance High School in 1954. He married Darleen Welsh on June 17 in 1955. Gerald worked as a journeyman machinist and metal pattern maker at American Steel Foundries for over 35 years.

Gerald was a member of the Alliance First Christian Church. He was an avid card player and loved playing at the Alliance Senior Center. Gerald enjoyed socializing (with a little exercising) at Concorde. He and his wife also enjoyed their Gad-About trips. Gerald also loved watching the Cleveland Guardians, Browns and The Ohio State Buckeyes. 

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 70 years, Darleen; sons, Brent (Lea) and Brian (Vicki) Packey; grandchildren, Alissa (Tony) Milini, Andrea (Adam) Fetty, Josh (Teresa) Packey, and Jen (Mike) Greene; and great-grandchildren, AJ Milini, Austin Milini, Drew Fetty, Averi Milini, Brody Milini, Dominic Packey, Alaynna Fetty, Gianna Packey, and Emery Greene; sister-in-law, Cathy Welsh. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Kay; and brother-in-law, Dave Welsh. 

A funeral service will be held at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home on Monday, February 10th at 11:00 a.m. with a visitation one hour prior. 

The family would like to thank the employees at Bel-Air Care Center and Crossroads Hospice for all their love, care and compassion.
