Gerald R. Ruff, age 79, of Alliance, died at 6:56 a.m. Friday, May 29, 2009, at Alliance Community Hospital.
He was born Nov. 15, 1929 in Alliance to Russell and Vera (Walker) Ruff and was a lifelong resident.
Mr. Ruff was a 1948 graduate of Alliance High School and was formerly employed by Transue and Williams Forge as a die maker for 41 years till his retirement in 1992.
He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, the Conrad Masonic Lodge #271 F & AM, and BPOE #467 of Alliance. Mr. Ruff enjoyed fishing, hunting, and watching his grandsons play baseball.
Survivors include his wife, Mary, whom he married July 6, 1952; sons, Gregory (Marilyn) Ruff of Alliance and Bradley Ruff of Indiana; two grandchildren, Randall and Jeffrey Ruff and a sister, Jeanette Mohr of Alliance and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Kathleen Ward; and a brother, Charles Ruff.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday, June 2, 2009 at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Rev. John Ferris officiating. Friends may call from 2-4 p.m. prior to the service. Conrad Masonic Lodge will conduct Masonic services at 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be at Fairmount Memorial Park.
