Gerald L. Saunier, age 67, of Alliance, passed away at his home surrounded by his family at 9:55 p.m. Sunday, January 10, 2010.
He was born February 22, 1942 in Alliance, Ohio to Clement M. and Margaret (McFerren) Saunier.
Jerry graduated in 1960 from Alliance High School and obtained his certification as a Journeyman Tool & Die Maker in 1969. He retired in 2004 after working as a Tool and Die Maker for Anstine Machine.
Jerry was a current member of the Alliance Balsa Bees, the AMA, president of his High School Class Reunion Committee, past member of the Marlington High School Band Boosters, supporter of Alliance Marlington Girls Softball, former member of the Northend Streetrods of Barberton, and the Canton Corvette Club.
Survivors include his wife, Jody (Fetters) Saunier, whom he married Sept. 14, 1985; daughters, Renee (Jon) Boschini, of Alliance, Danielle Saunier, of the home, granddaughter, Morgan Grimm of Alliance; half-sister, Merry Lynn Fix of Colorado; and step-mother, Ellen (Wade) Nimon, of Florida.
He was preceded in death by his father, Clement M. Saunier, his mother, Margaret Severance, and his step-father, Wilfred K. Severance.
A Memorial Service will be held at Noon Thursday, January 14, 2010, at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church with the Rev. Timothy Muse officiating. Friends may call from 9 a.m. - Noon prior to the service at the church.
In lieu of Flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 525 N. Broad St, Canfield, Ohio 44406-9274 or the American Lung Association of Ohio, 6100 Rockside Woods Blvd, #260, Independence, Ohio 44131.
