Gerald A. Severance, age 83, of Alliance, died at 12:37 a.m. Friday, March 2, 2007 at Mercy Medical Center.
Mr. Severance was born February 12, 1924 in Alliance to Arthur J. Severance and Jane (Hively) Severance Dorff and was a lifelong residence.
Gerald was retired from Transue & Williams Forge after 35 years of service and was the owner of Golden Gate Wine and Carry-Out for 20 years. He was a member of First Immanual United Church of Christ and a U.S. Army Veteran serving in WWII as a Tech 5 and recipient of two Bronze Stars. Mr. Severance served with the European African Middle Eastern Theater and was a lifetime member of the VFW.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy (Gfeller) Severance whom he married Oct. 4, 1942 and celebrated 64 years of marriage. Also survived by his son, Jerry (Brenda) Severance of Alliance, grandsons, Robert W. (Vida) Severance of Round Lake, Il., David Len (Bonnie) Severance of Alliance, granddaughters Brenda Jayne (Kevin) Wasmire of Alliance, Brandy J. (Rick) Peloso of Alliance, 11 great-granchildren and step-sister Marie Bruey of MI.
Gerald was preceded in death by his parents, sister Eileen and step-sister Bonnie Huskins and two step-brothers Chuck and John Dorff.
Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Monday at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Pastor Neal Mann officiating. Friends my call two hours prior to the service at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home. Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park.
