Gerald Smith

Gerald E. Smith, age 63 of Alliance, died at his home Friday September 19, 2003.
He was born in Alliance, Ohio on June 5, 1940 to Howard J. and Agnes M. (Jackson) Smith, and was a 1958 graduate of Alliance High School.
He was employed by Chrysler Corp. in Twinsburg for 37 years, retiring in 2002 from Quality Control.
Mr. Smith was a member of Southside Church of God, and active in his church, including serving on the property and finance committee.
He served in the U.S. Army Reserves, and was a member of U.A.W. Local 122.
He is survived by his wife Betty (Schlabach) Smith, whom he married November 9, 1968, two sons John S. (Mary) Smith of Anderson Ind., Troy C. (Renee') Smith of East Canton, one daughter Holly P. (Brian) Holbrook of Alliance, and nine grandchildren Emily, Joshua, Sarah, Jacob, Megan, Nathan, Lauren, Rachel and Anna.
Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother Howard James Smith.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at the Southside Church of God, with Pastor John S. Smith officiating. Friends may call from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Monday at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home.
Interment will be in Highland Memorial Park.
