Gerald L. "Jerry" Wiley, age 72, of Atwater, Ohio, passed away after a brief illness, Friday, August 15, 2014, at his home.
He was born September 9, 1942, in Atwater, to Frank and Mabel (Keller) Wiley and was a lifelong Atwater resident.
Jerry was a 1960 graduate of Atwater High School and was self-employed with his business, Wiley Heating. He worked maintenance at East Manufacturing until his retirement and was currently employed at Hartville Hardware.
He was a member of the Atwater United Methodist Church. He was active with the Atwater Fire Department, Randolph Fair Board, Waterloo Chain Gang at football games, Atwater Hot Stove League and also an Atwater Booster and a Waterloo Booster. He was formerly an Atwater Trustee.
Jerry was a veteran of the United States Air Force.
Survivors include his wife, Angela R. (Massa) Wiley whom he married July 21, 1965; son, Dale (Lita) Wiley and their children, Jake and Bryce, all of Atwater; three daughters, Kim Wiley Collins and her children, Becca and Brooke, all of Atwater, Tracy Wiley (Paul) Kistemaker and their children, Hannah, Dylan, Andrew and Mckenna, all of Strongsville, Heidi Wiley (James) Pritts and their children, Shelby, Sadie and James Jr, all of Edinburg; brother, Chet (Nancy) Wiley; sisters, Martha (Jerry) Simons, and Dorothy (Jim) Clites; many nieces and nephews; and mother-in-law, Frances Massa of Akron.
He was preceded in death by his parents and father-in-law, John Massa.
Services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, August 23, 2014, at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Nicewarner and Pastor Ruth Roth co-officiating. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m., Friday. Interment will be at Atwater Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Jerry's family at 1438 Lake St., Atwater, OH 44201, to be shared with the many organizations he was involved with.
