Geraldine V. Devies, age 90, of Alliance, died at 8:25 a.m. Friday, December 26, 2008 at Canterbury Villa.
She was born March 19, 1918, in Tiffin, Ohio, to Amos Leroy and Alice M. (Crum) Leitner and has resided in the Alliance area since 1938.
A graduate of the former Marlboro High School, Geraldine was retired from Sears Department Store.
She was a member of the Aldersgate United Methodist church and a former member of Royal Neighbors, Marlboro Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary and several card clubs. She enjoyed baking-her pies won her several awards, crocheting and playing cards.
Survivors include her sons, Eugene "Gene" (Marilyn) Devies and Dr. Robert Devies both of Marlboro, daughter-in-law, Kathleen Devies of Sebring; son, Ronald (Barbara) Devies, of Marlboro; six grandchildren, Rob (Judy) Devies, Michael (Julie) Devies, Marissa (Paul) Root, Dennis Devies, Jr., Felicity Devies and Kyle Devies; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene C. Devies whom she married February 11, 1939 and who died May 14, 1969; her son, Dennis D. Devies, who died November 17, 2003; one brother; four sisters; and a daughter-in-law, Dr. Theresa M. Devies.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, December 29, 2008, at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Pastor Joel Adkins of Aldersgate United Methodist Church officiating. Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Sunday. Interment will be at Marlboro Cemetery.
