Gerard Vancavage, age 60, of Bedford, Ohio, died at 4:30 a.m. Saturday, July 10, 2010 at his home.
He was born June 3, 1950, in Brooklyn, N.Y. to John and Domecela (Perdna) Vancavage.
A graduate of Kent State University and the University of Toledo Law School, Gerard was employed by Cuyahoga County. He was a member of the American Bar Association.
Gerard loved to play tennis and golf. He enjoyed American History with emphasis on the Labor Movement and enjoyed vacationing at the Outer Banks in North Carolina.
Survivors include his wife, Susan E. (Diebel) Vancavage, whom he married Sept 6, 1975; two sisters, Ann Bolton of New Windsor, N.Y. and Irene McGillicuddy of Shirley, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister; and one brother.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 15, 2010, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 427 E. Broadway St. Alliance, Ohio, 44601, with Fr. Donald Feicht officiating. Friends may call from 9:30-10:30 a.m. prior to the service at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home, 75 S. Union Ave., Alliance, Ohio, 44601. Interment will be at St. Joseph Cemetery in Alliance, Ohio.
