Gladys Y. Bryant, age 73 of Alliance, passed away at 9:38 p.m. Monday, April 18, 2011 at Alliance Community Hospital.
She was born October 26, 1937, in Lawrence County, Ohio to Dempsey A. and Nettie L. (Dean) Knipp.
Gladys was a graduate of Kent State University, where she received her bachelor of education, and taught elementary education in Canton City Schools for 23 years. She enjoyed teaching Sunday school and was in charge of the Ladies Ministries at Maranatha Church of God for many years. Gladys was also a member of the Sounds of Home Gospel Singers; and enjoyed writing poetry.
Survivors include her husband, Pastor Chester Bryant of Alliance; children, Ronald (Debbie) Bryant of Alliance, Connie (Bill) Donohue of Alliance, and Kathy (Jeff) Clayton of Columbus; sister, Cathern (Charles) Turner of Sun City, Arizona; brothers; Dempsey (Marti) Knipp Jr. of Lake Milton, Donald (Susan) Knipp of Mentor, Phillip (Patricia) Knipp of Salem, and James (Patti) Knipp of Atwater; eleven grandchildren; and seventeen great-grandchildren.
Gladys was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Hazel Aldridge and Jeannetta Jones; one brother, Carl Knipp; and one son, Thomas E. Bryant.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 21, 2011 at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Pastor Jeffrey Caldwell officiating. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday. Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park.
