Gladys I. Dover, age 91, of Sebring, died at 4:59 a.m. Thursday, September 1, 2011, at Crandall Medical Center.
She was born May 2, 1920, in Vanport, Pennsylvania, to Harry L. Sr. and Hazel (Douds) Walters, and previously resided in Canton, Ohio and Livonia, Michigan.
A high school graduate, Gladys was formerly employed by Goodyear Aircraft Division in Akron in the Blueprint Department.
She was a member of the Bethel Assembly of God in Canton, Fairlane Assembly of God in Dearborn, Michigan, member of the church drama group and enjoyed acting and directing plays. Her family truly was her life, she enjoyed all the special times with them and supporting them in all their endeavors.
Gladys is survived by her daughters, Darla (Gerald) Grill of N. Fort Myers, Fla., Deborah (Lewis) Heath of Ft. Wayne, Ind.; five grandchildren, Tammy Lowe, Cindy Bonnici, Heather Carpenter, Michael Grill and Cynthia Newell; many great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; one brother, Harry Jr. (Judy) Walters of Ocala, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Frederick W. Dover, whom she married November 23, 1939 and who died January 27, 1987; a grandson, Jerry Grill; and sisters, Betty Walters and Violet Beckman.
Services will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, September 3, 2011, at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Rev. Bob Miller officiating. Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday. Graveside services will be held at Oakland Hills Memorial Garden in Novi, Michigan.
