Gladys Traphagen

Gladys M. Traphagen, age 90, of Alliance, died at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, April 24, 2010, at Bel-Air Care Center.
She was born June 28, 1919, in Massillon to Henry and Margaret (Gardner) Urban. Mrs. Traphagen was a 1937 graduate of Massillon High School and attended Cornell University and Ohio Wesleyan University.
Mrs. Traphagen was employed as a secretary for Republic Steel and was a member of Trinity Episcopal church, Delta Delta Delta Sorority; and the Alliance Woman's Club.
Survivors include children, David (Velma) Traphagen of Alliance and Deborah Lee (William) Wallace of Des Moines, Iowa; four grandchildren, Scott and Jeffrey Traphagen, Jenny Dowil and Julie Chen; and 4 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James F. Traphagen, whom she married September 15, 1945, and who died November 28, 2007; a sister, Alvia Martin; and brothers, Wilbur Urban and Herbert Urban.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
