Gordon B. Profeta

November 6, 1920 — January 30, 2006

Gordon B. Profeta, age 85 of Alliance, died at 3:15 p.m. Monday, Jan. 30, 2006 at the Cleveland Clinic.
He was born Nov. 6, 1920 in Alliance, Ohio to Felix and Giovania (Beltrami) Profeta and lived in Alliance most of his life.
A graduate of Alliance High School, he was employed by Ohio Edison for 37 years and retired as a Supervisor.
Mr. Profeta was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, where he formerly served as a member of the church grounds committee and usher.
He was also a former member of the Alliance Country Club and American Legion Post 166 of Alliance. He enjoyed golfing and woodworking in his wood shop.
He served as an Ensign in the Merchant Marines during W.W. II, and was the recipient of the Merchant Marine Emblem and Atlantic War Zone Bar.
Survivors include his wife, Tillie (Trombitas) Profeta, whom he married July 26, 1943; two daughters, Cynthia (Jim) McClarren of Alliance, and Karen Hamon (Tim Johnson) of Sebring; two granddaughters, Kelli (Darrin) Phillips and Jennifer (Tom) Ayers; four great-grandchildren, Katelyn, Emily, Evan and Erik; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, two brothers, one granddaughter, and one great-grandson.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church with Pastor Frank Gross Jr. officiating. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home. Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park.
