Gretchen Cox

Gretchen Cox, age 88, of Alliance, passed away on March 26, 2022.

She was born on September 22, 1933 in Alliance to George F. and Ruth (Henry) Schweikart.

Gretchen graduated from Alliance High School and attended Mount Union College. She graduated from St. Luke’s Hospital School of Nursing and worked as a registered nurse for over 50 years. Gretchen retired from Alliance Obstetrics after 13 years. She was a member of Abiding Savior Lutheran Church where she sang in the choir and was a circle leader of WELCA. Gretchen was also a parish nurse and was a former Sunday School teacher. She was an Alpha XI Delta Sorority Alumni. Gretchen enjoyed fishing and traveling with her family.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Wendy Harrison of Pickerington, Ohio; her sons, David C. (Jody) Cox Columbus, Ohio, Larry D. (Gretchen E.) Cox of Alliance and Geoffrey (Janet) Cox of Willoughby Ohio; eight grandchildren; two nieces; and two nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years Larry David Cox; her parents; and her brother, Robert (Dorothy) Schweikart.

A funeral service will be held at Abiding Savior Lutheran Church on Saturday, April 9th at 11:00 a.m. with a visitation starting at 9:30 a.m. The Reverend Daniel J. Cammarn will officiate. Interment will be at Fairmount Memorial Park.
