Harold D. Blake, age 83, of Alliance, passed away peacefully at 8:57 p.m. Sunday, February 28, 2010, at Alliance Community Hospital with his loving family at his side.
He was born May 14, 1926, in Solon, Ohio to Harold D. Sr. and Thelma Elsie (Goodrich) Blake and was an Alliance resident for 51 years.
A graduate of West Tech in Lakewood, Ohio, he retired as a Principal Engineer for TRW Inc. in Minerva and was a member of the National Society of Professional Engineers. He served in the United States Army during World War II in the European and Pacific Theatres.
Harold was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church in Alliance, a Mason, and was a member of the Buckeye Winnies for 25 years. He was an avid woodworker.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara (Render) Blake of Alliance, whom he married February 17, 1951; son, Steven D. (Deb) Blake of North Canton; daughters, Amy (Tom) Good of Novi, Michigan and Kim (Mark) Eells of Alliance; five grandchildren, Rachel and Allison Good, Brian, Michael, and Alyssa Duchon; and sisters-in-law, Judie (William) Wood of Jupiter, Florida, and Sue (Gene) Champion of Panama City, Florida.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, May 22, 2010 at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Pastor Jim McCurdy officiating. Friends may call from 11 to 11:30 a.m. prior to the service. Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park.
