Harold D. "Sonny" Felger, age 88, of Alliance, passed away Tuesday, September 17, 2013, at his home.
He was born June 9, 1925, in Minerva, Ohio, to Edwin B. and Alta (Otto) Felger.
A 1943 graduate of Minerva High School, Sonny was a self-employed carpenter for Felger Builders.
He was a member of the Union Avenue United Methodist Church and the Ohio Carpenters Union. He volunteered with the Alliance Visiting Nurse Association and Hospice for many years. A former member of the Sleepy Hollow Golf Club who enjoyed playing golf, he also enjoyed bowling and working with stained glass.
Sonny was a United States Army Veteran having served during World War II in the European Theater and was recipient of three Bronze Stars.
Survivors include his daughter, Diane (Michael) Pierce of Alliance; son, David Felger of Washington, DC; two grandchildren, John Davison and Breanne Davison; four great-grandchildren; sister Vesta "Sis
Wafler of Salem; two brothers, Carl (Ruth) Felger of Minerva and Burleigh (Marilyn) Felger of Alliance; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Eleanor "Pat" (Whitacre) Felger who died in January 1996; and a brother, Howard.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Monday, September 23, 2013, at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. David Bloor officiating. Friends may call the hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Fairmount Memorial Park.
