Harold Gray, age 77, of Alliance, passed away peacefully at 5:45 p.m. Thursday, August 12, 2010 at Alliance Community Hospital, after an extended illness.
Harold was born October 15, 1932, in East Palestine, Ohio, to the late Adolph and Julia (Ward) Gray. He was a resident of Alliance for more than 70 years. He was an Alliance High School graduate and former Aviator football player. He loved sports, especially playing golf, and despite public opinion, two of his favorites were the Cleveland Browns and Tiger Woods. Upon graduation, he served in the United States Air Force where he completed his military duties and received an Honorable Discharge.
During his service in the military, Harold married his devoted wife, Betty J. (Shepherd) Gray. He retired as a foreman from Chrysler's Twinsburg Stamping Plant after 30 years of service. He was a member of New Zion Baptist Church.
Preceding him in death are his parents; brothers, Artil, Jessie, Thomas, Lloyd, Romie, and Samuel Gray; sisters, Henrietta Gray Smith, Eloise Gray Young, and Daneen Gray King; sons, Clifford (Lucky) Gray and George Edward Gray.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 55 years, Betty, whom he married December 11, 1954; son, Christopher; daughters, Theresa (Gray) Monroe and Vanessa; granddaughters, Tasha and Sierra Gray; three brothers, Dollie Gray of Alliance, Chester (Jo) Gray of Ann Arbor, Michigan, and Glen Gray, of California; sister, Donna Jean (Gray) (Wiley) Flynn, of California; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 21, 2010, with Rev. Bobby Williams officiating at Feed My Sheep Ministries/New Beginnings House of God, 114 E. Main St. Alliance, Ohio, 44601.
