Harold Wasson

Harold "Temp" Wasson, age 88, of Alliance, passed away at 9:10 a.m. Saturday, September 24, 2011 at Alliance Community Hospital.
He was born April 19, 1923, in Bourbon County, Kentucky to Emmett and Essie (Prather) Wasson.
Mr. Wasson graduated in 1941 from Sharpsburg High School, where he played basketball. He moved to Ohio in 1947 and worked as a machinist at B&W Rush St. for 17 years, before retiring in 1986 from Alliance Drop Forge after 22 years of service.
A 56 year member of Christ United Methodist Church, where he formerly served on administrative council; Harold also was a member of International Die Sinkers Union, United Steel Workers, and American Association of Machinists. He was a member of the Hot Stove League Association and managed a team for several years. He also enjoyed bowling and traveling.
He will be greatly missed by his wife, of 63 years, Norma I. (Lare) Wasson; daughters, Barbara Wasson-Evans of Alliance, Sandra Wasson, DVM (Earnie Robinson) of Tieton, WA, and Valerie Wasson, of Sebring; three granddaughters, Jennifer (John) Vizzuso, of Grafton, Jessica (Keith) Milligan of Riverside, CA, and Nicole (Nathan) Eriksen of Albuquerque, NM, and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, David Wasson; four brothers, one sister, and one great-granddaughter.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, September 30, 2011 at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Rev. David Hostetler officiating, assisted by Rev. Marvin Lare, brother-in-law of the deceased. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, September 29, 2011 and one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Alliance City Cemetery.
Memorials may be made as flowers or to Christ United Methodist Church, 470 E. Broadway St. Alliance, OH 44601.
