Harold E. West, age 89, of Alliance, passed away peacefully at home with his family on Tuesday, February 5, 2013, following a brief illness.
He was born April 21, 1923 in Lexington Twp., to the late Stacy and Cora (Johnson) West Sr.
Harold retired from Alliance Machine Company after 45 years.
He was a U. S. Army veteran, serving in WWII, Company 1 274th Infantry Regiment with sixteen months of service in Europe.
Survivors include his five daughters, Sally (Dennis) Sweitzer, of Alliance, Judy K. Snyder, of Sebring, Kathie Snodgrass, of Canton, Nancy (Kevin) White, of NC, and Sherry (Grady) Jones, of NC; grandchildren, Rick Snyder, Bob (Shay) Snyder, Kim (Ed) Lenzy, Dana (Lara) Snodgrass, Eric (Pam) Sweitzer, and Jake White and Dan Snodgrass; seven great-grandchildren; and one sister, Leona Bettis of NC.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Kathryn R. (Bollia) West, son-in-law, Edward Snodgrass, and three brothers, Wallace, Paul, and Stacy West Jr.
Harold's wishes are to be cremated and a private service will be held at the graveside burial at Highland Memorial Park.
Arrangements are by Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home.
