Harry E. Ruggles, age 78, of Alliance, died at 8:13 a.m. at Alliance Community Hospital.
He was born July 6, 1928 in Alliance, Ohio to Elmer and Ann (Thompson) Ruggles and was a lifelong resident.
Harry graduated in 1946 from Alliance High School and served his apprenticeship at Diamond Pattern where he became a Journeyman in 1951. In 1962, he purchased Mt. Union Pattern Works on Liberty St., and in 1987 moved to its current location at 920 E. Auld St..
He was a member of First Baptist Church, and the Alliance BPOE #467, where he was a member of the House Committee and served as a trustee. Mr. Ruggles was previously named Elk of the Year.
Survivors include his wife, Marjorie (Jones) Ruggles, whom he married Feb. 24, 1952; one son, Jeffrey (Missy) Ruggles of Minerva; and three grandsons, Curt, Todd and Evan.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Jack Ruggles.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Pastor Gordon Thomas officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service. An Elks Service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday. Burial will be at Fairmount Memorial Park.
