Harry Hays, Jr., age 87, of Alliance died at 12:55 p.m. Tuesday, October 21, 2008 at Roselawn Terrace.
He was born August 14, 1921 in Alliance to Harry Sr. and Mina (Reeder) LeBer.
After graduating from Alliance High School he was an electrician for Alliance Manufacturing until his retirement in 1983. He was a member of the First Christian Church and a former financial secretary for Local 750 IUE AFL-CIO, member of the Duane Society, former Cub Scout Leader of Troop 50 and was an active Alliance High School Band Booster.
He was a United States Coast Guard Veteran having served in World War II from 1942-1945.
Survivors include his wife, Ina C. (McCreadie) Hays of Alliance; daughter, Jean A. Hays of Amherst, Ohio; and a son, John A. Hays of Boliver, Ohio; granddaughter, Holly Jean Hays, and a great granddaughter, Leia M. Hays, both of Elizabethton, Tennessee.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a daughter-in-law Holly Lynn Hays.
Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, October 23, 2008 at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Pastor Pam Bruno officiating. Friends may call from 1-2:30 p.m. prior to the service. Interment will be at Alliance City Cemetery.
