Harry F. McCaskey age 79 of Alliance, died at his home at 3:55 p.m. Tuesday Aug. 17, 2004.
He was born April 19, 1925 in New Kensington, Pennsylvania to Lawson O. and Mollie (Swyers) McCaskey.
Harry attended various schools in Armstrong and Clarion Counties in Pa. He was formerly employed as the Sgt of Police for Pennsylvania, Penn Central, and Conrail Railroad, retiring in 1985. He also retired as Building Inspector for the city of Louisville.
Harry was a life member of Alliance Elks Club and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was also a member of Tadmor Temple, Alliance Shrine Club, and its Floating Flag Unit, and transportation unit for Shriners Crippled Childrens Hospital. He was also a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, Royal Order of the Jesters, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, a fifty year member of the Rochester Pennsylvania Masonic Lodge # 229 F&AM, American Legion Post 166, and the Silver and Sexy Club at Hooters.
Harry was a U.S. Army Veteran, having served during World War II, Veteran of the Merchant Marines and the U.S. Coast Guard.
He was a member of First United Presbyterian Church.
Harry loved his wife, family and friends. He was a loving father, and always had a joke or story to tell, and didn't know a stranger.
He is survived by his second wife, Jean (Penman) (Kinsey), daughter Patty (Bob) Archer of Westerville, Ohio, step-daughters Nancy (Dennis) Porter of Atwater, Ohio, Debby (Robin) Tatsch and step-son Al (Charlene) Kinsey all of Alliance, three granddaughters and one grandson, all of Westerville, six step-grandchildren, three step-great-grandsons, three sisters Louise Kileen of Rochester, Pa., Harriet Gillum of Nashville, MI, and Pat Ickes of Beechgrove, In.
Harry was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Beatrice (Schwartz) McCaskey, three brothers Bob, William and James, and one sister Catherine.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Rev. William Sadler officiating. Friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday. Interment will be at Union Cemetery in Louisville. Masonic services will be held at 6:30 p.m. Sunday. Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Childrens Hospital, 1645 W. 8th St. Erie, PA 16505, or Alliance Visiting Nurses and Hospice, 885 S. Sawburg Rd. Alliance, OH 44061.
