Harry E. Pownell age 92 of Marlboro, died at 1:30 a.m. May 12, 2003 at Canterbury Villa.
He was born June 20, 1910 in Marlboro to John and Camille (Miller) Pownell.
Mr. Pownell lived in this area the majority of his life, and graduated from Central High School in Akron.
He enjoyed farming, in addition to being employed at the Ravenna Arsenal, and working at Aultman Hospital in the Physical Plant. He retired from working in the physical plant at a furniture business in Akron.
He attended Aldersgate United Methodist Church, and was a member of an amateur radio club, known as WAPXX, he worked with civil defense in the area, and people always knew him as an all around handyman.
He is survived by three daughters Margaret Pownell of Warren, Jean and Don Knoch of Massillon and Jane and Vern Erwin of La Crescenta, CA, 6 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, one sister-in-law Annabel Walker Morris of Salem, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Mary Walker Pownell, whom he married June 5, 1937, and who died in 1976, and one brother James.
Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park.
