Harry Richard Shade, age 91, of Alliance, formerly of Port Charlotte, Florida, died at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, October 14, 2007 at Community Care Center
He was born November 6, 1915 in Summerfield, Pennsylvania to Harry E. and Mary M. (Dwyer) Shade.
Mr. Shade was a high school graduate and was previously employed by PCC Airfoils, (formerly TRW Metals Division) in Minerva for 20 years as a Tool and Die Maker before his retirement in 1981. He was also employed by the Hoover Company and the former McCaskey Register Company in Alliance. He also was a test pilot for Taylorcraft Aviation.
Mr. Shade was a former member of The First Baptist Church of Alliance and current member of the Port Charlotte United Methodist Church. He was a long time volunteer for the Port Charlotte Lions Club, Habitat for Humanity, Salvation Army and he was a member of the Port Charlotte B.P.O. Elks # 2153. Mr. Shade was also a member of the Taylorcraft Flying Club.
Survivors include daughters, Margaret A. (Ralph) Gunther of Candler, NC, Janis (Sam) Donohoe and Christine (Frank) Fletcher, both of Alliance and Patricia Fradkin of Baltimore MD; twelve grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, sister, Janis Furtney of Connellsville PA; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Virginia M. (Sourbeck) Shade, brother, Joseph and sister, Mary Lou Dull.
A private memorial service will be held.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Port Charlotte Lions Club or Habitat for Humanity.
