Helen M. Baith, age 97 of Limaville, died at 6:20 a.m. Friday, May 28, 2010, peacefully at her home.
She was born February 15, 1913, in Salem, Ohio to Robert and Mary (Anderson) Kommel. She was a graduate of Alliance High School and was employed by Stern & Mann's, retiring in 1978.
Helen was a member of Lexington United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Womens Benefit Association and the Womens Life Society. Helen enjoyed playing softball, watching sports, playing cards and gambling in Las Vegas and Mountaineer. She especially loved being with family and friends.
Survivors include her daughters, Lois Y. Laubert, Deborah S. Baith of Alliance, Kay Ann (James) McKinley of Nevada; sons, Arthur C. Baith and Richard D. Baith of Alliance; sister, Dorothy Schartiger of Massillon; two brothers, Dwight L. Kommel of Beloit and Raymond W. Kommel of California; 11 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Arthur E. Baith, whom she married April 21, 1935 and who died September 5, 1964; daughter, Carol Evans; grandson, Brad Baith; great grandson, Austin Bishop; sister, Alta Shoemaker, and brothers, Donald, Lawrence and Robert Kommel; and her daughter-in-law, Janice (Sotcan) Baith.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 2, 2010 at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Pastor Joe Peters officiating. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Mount Union Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family wishes donations be made to the Lexington United Methodist Church, 15035 Greenbower St., Alliance, Ohio 44601 or the Alliance Visiting Nurse Association and Hospice, 885 S. Sawburg Rd., Suite 106, Alliance, Ohio 44601. The family wishes to express their gratitude to Hospice for their compassion and care of Helen.
