Helen E. Zeller Carnahan, age 95, died Tuesday, September 4, 2012 at 5:40 p.m.
She was born April 13, 1917, in Winona, Ohio, the daughter of the late Mary and Alfred Stryffeler. She was a wallpaper hanger for 35 years and saddened many when she retired. Helen was a member of Bethel United Church of Christ of Beloit. She was also a life member of the Women of the Moose and a life member of the Eagles. She enjoyed sewing, cooking and reading, especially cookbooks.
Survivors include three daughters, Edythe Jackson of Alliance, Linda (Guy) Johnson, of Covington, GA, with whom she was residing at the time of her death; Jean Mabry of Alliance, and a son, Eldis "Butch" (Blanche) Zeller of Homeworth, and a sister, Margaret Wagmiller of Salem. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, Michael Hudson of Houston, TX, John Hudson of Canton, Rachel Hudson of Salem, and Kim Hudson of Canton, Heidi (Scott) Swiderski of Austin, TX, Steve (Tracy) Zeller of Columbus, OH, Eric Fergason of Canton, Marc Leventhal of Atlanta, GA, and Leslie Leaf of Alliance. She is also survived by fifteen great-grandchildren and sixteen great-great-grandchildren.
Helen was preceded in death by her first husband, Eldis R. Zeller Sr., her second husband, Edward Carnahan, a son Lynn A. Zeller, a granddaughter, Theresa Hudson Grimm, and a grandson, Lance E. Fergason.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, September 8, 2012 at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Mark Black of Beechwood Christian Church officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Bethel Church Cemetery. Arrangements are by Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home, 75 S. Union Avenue, Alliance, Ohio 44601.
