Helen J. Cross

Helen J. Cross, age 97, passed away on December 5, 2023. She was born on June 29, 1926, in Wooster, Ohio, to John and Quintella (Orr) Tate.

Helen graduated from Alliance High School in 1944 and Mount Union College in 1948. She was in Mu Phi Music Sorority, Delta Kappa Gamma Educational Sorority, and Alpha Delta Phi Sorority. She married Edward P. Cross in 1950. Helen taught music for over 30 years in Jewitt and Alliance, Ohio. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Alliance where she directed the church choir for many years. She was a violinist throughout her life in church solos and orchestras. Helen enjoyed reading, painting, and spending time with her family and friends.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters-in-law, Diane Cross and Christine Cross; grandchildren, Nathan (Mare) Cross and Kelly (Chris) Paquette; three great-grandchildren, Kaisa and Kacey Cross, and Sloane Paquette.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ed Cross (2008); two sons, Mark (2012) and Matt (2021) Cross; two brothers, John and Vinson Tate; and one sister, Jean Buchanan.

Helen was grateful for all who helped her throughout her life.

A memorial service will be held at First Christian Church in Alliance on Monday, May 6^th at 11:00 a.m.
