Helen Goldner

Helen Margaret Goldner, 91, went to join her Lord and Savior on Friday, December 2, 2005, at Crandall Medical Center in Sebring, Ohio, following a brief illness. She was born on January 5, 1914 in Upton, Pennsylvania, to Jesse and Lelia Elliott Hawbaker.
She graduated from Lemaster High School; and on September 21, 1937 she and Michael B. Goldner were married at St. Stephens Lutheran Church in Upton. Michael was an ordained Lutheran minister and served congregations in Ringold, PA; Vandergrift, PA; Alliance, OH and Mansfield, OH. She enjoyed her life as a clergyman's wife and was involved in many of the congregation's activities including women's circles and frequently sang in the church choir.
She spent the last 12 years of her life at Copeland Oaks Retirement Community in Sebring, Ohio with the last six in Crandall Medical Center where she passed away.
Helen is survived by a son, Richard and his wife Mary Alice Goldner of Edmond, Oklahoma; and a daughter, Carol Goodman of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She also is survived by a granddaughter, Robin Goodman, a grandson, Michael Goodman, and a great grandson, Danny, all who live in metropolitan Milwaukee.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and two brothers, Lester Hawbaker and Garrett Hawbaker who died as an infant.
Helen had many friends that she made through the years as she and her husband moved from location to location. Those who knew her well will miss her.
Arrangements have been made through Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home in Alliance, Ohio. Services will be held at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 3295 S. Union, Alliance on Friday, December 9, at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Frank Gross Jr. officiating. Friends may call from 9:30 to 11:00 prior to the service. Interment will be at North Lawn Cemetery in Canton.
