Helen M. Magrath

Helen M. Magrath age 91, of Alliance, passed away at 5:40 p.m., Sunday, August 16, 2015 at her home. She was born April 18, 1924 in Alliance, Ohio to Verne Syme and Erma (Grimes) Syme Burt. A graduate of Alliance High School, Mrs. Magrath graduated from the Canton Academy of Beauty Culture and was the owner and operator of the Gingham Girl Beauty Salon. Mrs. Magrath had been the beautician for area funeral homes. She was a member of Bolton United Methodist Church. Helen enjoyed playing the organ, fishing, and liked to paint. Survivors include her son, Mike (Gloria) Magrath and grandson, Andrew Magrath. She was preceded in death by her parents, son, Brion Magrath, sister, Bernice Tasker, and husband, James A. Magrath, whom she married February 28, 1954 and who died April 3, 2015. Private family services will be held with interment at Alliance City Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Alliance Hospice. Arrangements are by Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home.
