Helen L. Frill White Morris, age 87, of Alliance, died at 2:54 p.m. Sunday, March 4, 2007 at Alliance Community Hospital. She was born November 20, 1919 in Alliance, Ohio to Benjamin Franklin Carpenter and Wilma (Channel) Carpenter and was a lifelong resident.
Helen attended Sebring schools and received her GED at the age of 44. She was a member of the Homeworth Art club and was a prolific poet writing up until her death. She wrote many poems about her life and celebrating the special people around her. Helen did poetry readings at area nursing homes, and received a certificate of achievement for her poem "My Wisdom Shelf" in the Alliance Poets Contest. She has had poems published in the Alliance Review and the Mile Branch Grange paper. She also had a book of published poems entitled "A Bee in my Bonnet.", and was a member of the Alliance poets. She enjoyed oil painting, playing solitaire, working crossword puzzles and cryptograms. Helen also wrote several songs that were copyrighted. She was an inspiration to others.
Survivors include her husband Merle W. Morris whom she married July 2, 1983, daughters, Juanita (Ron) Quinlan of Alliance, Judith (William) Saunders of Columbus, Patricia Dale of SanDiego, CA, Nicki Palmer of Cazenovia, Y, Jackie Lewis of N. Royalton, stepson, Mitchell (Marlene) Morris of Alliance, 16 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and great-great -grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husbands Millard Frill and Dale White.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Vine St. United Methodist Church with Pastor John Wolfe, Pastor William Saunders and Pastor Melvin Lindberg officiating. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday and one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at Fairmount Memorial Park.
