Helen Denison Morris, age 93, Artist and Matriarch of Alliance's longest living legal family, passed away peacefully at her home at 1:40 p.m. Thursday June 26, 2003.
Mrs. Morris was born April 6, 1910 in Connorsville, Indiana to Vernor St. Clair and Eva Miller Denison. She graduated from Sandusky High School, and in 1933 graduated with a B.A. from Mount Union College. Mrs. Morris attended classes at Oxford and Cambridge Universities in England, as well as Julliard School in New York City during the last 15 years.
Mrs. Morris was a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a member of First United Presbyterian Church. She was also a gardener, potter, painter, sculptor, and world traveler; traveling around the world twice on the Concorde. She was a member of the Alliance Woman's Club, Flower Garden Club, Republican Club, Country Club, Coterie, and University Club in New York City.
Survivors include children; Ann M. Pearce (Mrs. David L.) of East Chatham, NY, Atty. Evan W. Morris (Suzanne) of Marlboro, Sarah M. Brown (Judge Charles E.) of Alliance, Atty. Jane M. Udovic (Dr. Terrance) of Washington D.C., Atty.'s John W. Morris (Joyce) of Alliance, twelve grandchildren; Caroline Pearce Bauerschmidt (Rev. John) of Covington La., Atty.'s Helen Pearce Bequette (Mrs. Todd) of Lafayette, Ca., Elizabeth Pearce Augustin (Ret. Capt. Thomas) of Pasadena, Ca., Evan W. Morris III of Delray Beach Fl., Kara Morris Green (Atty. James) of Eagle, Wi., Katherine Morris of Marlboro, Charles E. Brown III of Alliance, Atty.'s Hannah Brown Jennings (Colin) of Fairview Park, Atty.'s Duncan Brown (Molly) of New York, NY, Andrew J. Udovic of Washington, D.C., John Wadsworth Morris of North Canton, and David Wadsworth Morris of North Canton, ten great-grandchildren, and twins expected, William, Henry and Caroline St. Clair Bauerschmidt, Jacob and Benjamin Bequette, Emily Ann Augustin, Joshua, Maeghan, and Patrick Green, and John Brown Jennings.
Mrs. Morris was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 50 years, Atty. Evan W. Morris, whom she married May 5, 1934, and who died in 1985, and four brothers and sisters.
A private family service will be held with Rev. Dr. William Sadler officiating.
