Helen Marie Pauli

Helen Marie (Demuth) Pauli, age 99, went home to be with her Lord Jesus on October 9, 2024. 

She was born on December 5, 1924 to Peter and Alice (McMahan) DeMuth. Helen would have been 100 this year.

Helen lived an active, amazing, historical, and interesting life. She witnessed many births and many deaths. Helen graduated from the ‘old’ Alliance High School and was then the first graduating class of Mercy Medical’s School of Nursing in 1942. Helen then went to the University of Chicago, Illinois to further her education and work as a registered nurse. Upon returning to Alliance, she was employed at the old Alliance City Hospital as an OB nurse and later served as the office nurse for Dr. Robert Hurst for many years. 

While home visiting her parents during her schooling in Chicago, Helen heard a motorcycle and went outside to find a classmate from the 5th grade, Ivan “Pete” Pauli. He asked Helen to go for a ride, he had just returned from WWII as a soldier. They fell in love and married September 2, 1949. Helen and Pete moved to his family farm where she resided until her death. Pete, the love of her life, passed away in 1996. They raised four children, Michael Keith (Linda) Pauli, Kathy Sue Pauli-Foith, Robyn Dee Pauli-Court, and Jeffrey Lee (Geri) Pauli. 

Her husband’s sisters became her own, Helen (Tom) Hazen, Thelma (Steve) Saunier, Ester (Jim) Ailes, and Phyllis (Chuck) Price. Helen was blessed with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews. She had a great family, much work and lots of love. God is good. 

Helen was laid to rest at Marlboro Cemetery in Alliance after a private family service.
