Helen Slutz

Helen Marie (Houck) Slutz, age 69, of Alliance, died at 9:15 a.m. Friday, June 20, 2008 at her home. She was born in Canton, Ohio, June 4, 1939 to Charles W. Jr. and Geraldine (Lanzer) Houck. Helen was a member of the Louisville Baptist Temple. She was a graduate of Middlebranch High School. She enjoyed baking cakes, gardening, and enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Survivors include her loving husband, Robert E. Slutz, Sr. of Alliance, whom she married March 15, 1958; children, Robert E. (Gena) Slutz Jr. of Alliance, Stacy (Chuck) Hickman of Alliance, Holly (Gary) Broomfield, of Alliance, Thomas (Debi) Slutz of Salem; nine grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; siblings, John (Bonnie) Houck of East Canton, Eddie (Tom) Heffelbower of Canton, Mary McArdle of Canton; and sister-in-law Barb Houck of Massillon. She was preceded in death by her parents; and one brother, James Houck. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 24, 2008, at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Rev. Michael Harmon and Rev. Lee Grosh officiating. Friends may call from 6-9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Interment will be at Mount Union Cemetery. Arrangements are by Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home, Alliance Ohio.
