Helen DeGroff Thacker, age 92 of Alliance, died at 11:05 p.m. April 26, 2006 at Canterbury Villa. She was born February 11, 1914 in Randolph, Ohio to the late Leo Alpheus and Ruth Coler DeGroff.
Mrs. Thacker was formally a resident of Akron, Ohio and Edgewater, Florida. She moved to Alliance in 1957 and was an employee of the Alliance Eye and Ear Clinic for twenty-one years. Helen was also a member of the Union Avenue Methodist Church.
Survivors include two sisters, Meda Osco of Alliance, Ohio and Edith Herchek of Randolph, Ohio; fourteen nieces and nephews and many great and great- great nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Thacker was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Dayton, two brothers, Ralph and Merle DeGroff and two sisters, Mary Combs and Alice Boldizsar.
There will be no calling hours. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday May 2nd at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Pastor Gordon Ruggles officiating. Interment will be at Hillside Cemetery in Randolph, Ohio.
