Henry W. Fisher, age 89, of Alliance, died on Jan. 4, 2009 at 1:00 a.m. at Altercare of Alliance. He was born Oct. 20, 1919 in St. Louis and lived in Alliance the rest of his life. Henry was a graduate of Alliance High School and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in Europe. He was a retiree of the American Steel Foundries where he worked as a clerk. He enjoyed golf and bowling and in his younger years softball and basketball. He also enjoyed following the local amateur and professional sports teams. He was a long time member and deacon of the First United Presbyterian Church of Alliance and member of the Conrad Masonic Lodge. Henry is survived by his 3 sons, William R. Fisher of Euclid, Ohio, Richard A. Fisher of Bethlehem, Georgia, and James E. (Judy) Fisher of West Columbia, South Carolina; his fianc?' Violet Snyder of Sebring, Ohio; and 6 grandchildren, Matt, George, Joe, Liz, John and Jeff. Preceding him in death were his wife Ruth (McGrew) Fisher, whom he married in 1949, and who died in 1981, his mother, Rhea Markham Grall and his father, Clyde D. Fisher. The family will receive friends at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home on Saturday, Jan. 10th from 9-10 a.m. The funeral will be held at 10:00 a.m. Sat. Jan. 10th with Pastor James McCurdy officiating. Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the First United Presbyterian Church or the American Cancer Society.
