Herbert L. Zigler age 75 of Alliance died at Community Care Center at 3:45 a.m. December 13, 2003.
He was born in Ankneytown Ohio on November 20, 1928 to Rev. Jacob D. and Bertie (Huffer) Zigler, and lived in Alliance since 1946.
A graduate of Lash High School in Zanesville, Mr. Zigler was a journeyman pattern maker, and retired as Superintendent after 29 years at American Steel in the pattern shop.
A Member of Reading Church of the Brethren, he was also a member of American Foundry Society, past Master of Conrad Masonic Lodge #271, past Commander Alliance Commandry #67, past Illustrious Master Council #112, past High Priest Alliance Chapter #83 RAM, Knight York Cross of Honor, and Allied Masonic Degree.
Mr. Zigler was also a member of the Alliance Shrine Club, Alliance flag unit and transportation unit driver, and member of Tadmor Temple Scottish Rite Valley of Canton. He was an avid golfer, and enjoyed camping and gardening.
Survivors include his wife Betty (Ewing) whom he married January 7, 1972, daughter Susan (Donald) Turner of Salem, son Michael (Barb) Zigler of Alliance, son Daniel (Donna) Zigler of Cisco, Il, daughter Sondra (Shawn) Thomas of Canton, seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and three sisters, Josephine, Ruby and Reba.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 1st wife Shirley, brother Jacob Jr., 4 sisters Lena, Ruth, Florence and Pearl, one infant son, one grandson and one great-grandson.
Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with Pastor Robert McNutt officiating. Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Monday at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home. Masonic Services will be held at 6:30 p.m. Monday. Interment will be at Beechwood Cemetery.
