Hilda E. Gainor

Hilda Elizabeth Gainor, age 93, of Alliance, passed away at 12:30 a.m., Tuesday, December 8, 2015 at Altercare of Alliance.
She was born at Alliance City Hospital April 9, 1922, to John and Anna (Hallman) Gockel.
Hilda was a 1941 graduate of Alliance High School. She was employed as a telephone operator with Ohio Bell, a receptionist with Caskey Motor Inn and a waitress with Rice Pharmacy.
A member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, she also sang in the choir and was formerly active with Carnation City Players and member of the Alliance Saxon Club. She enjoyed traveling to the island of Kauai, taking trips to Mountaineer Casino, bowling, playing Scrabble and watching the Cleveland Indians.
Survivors include her sons, Scott Gainor of Daytona Beach, Florida and Todd (Marian) Gainor of Alliance; grandchildren, Kyle (Susie) Gainor of Salem, Kirk (Monica) Gainor of Indiana, Jason (Jenifer) Gainor of Florida, Donna (Mike) Crawley of North Carolina, Nicole Mann of Florida, Cara Gainor (Shane Bradt) of Sebring, Nicholas Gainor of Alliance and Brad Rhoads of South Carolina; 14 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews..
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Craig; and three sisters.
Services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, December 12, 2015, at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with the Rev. Herb Goetz of the North Benton Presbyterian Church officiating. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, December 11, 2015, at the funeral home. Interment will be at Alliance City Cemetery.
