Horace W. Dye, 94, formerly of Alliance, Ohio died Sunday, August 21, 2005 at his home in Dade City, Florida. He was preceded in death by his wife Anna M. (Dillon) Dye; his six siblings, Edna, Glenn, Floyd, Lewis, Mary and Ruby Price.
He is survived by seven children; Mrs. Norma Grossman and Betty (Harry) Jones, both of Dade City, Fl., Marvin (Mary Jo) of Alliance, Ohio, Benny (Carolyn) of Live Oak, Fl, Mrs. Dana Boyce of Alliance, Shelda (James) Cranston of Beloit, Ohio and Linda (James) Boyle of Hoschton, GA; 23 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Born at the family farm in Monroe County, Ohio on January 24, 1911, Horace was the youngest son of Benjamin Franklin Dye II and Anna Marie Webber Dye. He was locally schooled and graduated from New Matamoras High School in New Matamoras, Ohio. He lived and farmed through the greatest agricultural revolution of all time. Retiring from dairy farming in 1976, he and his wife moved to Florida.
He busied himself building/remodeling houses, walking around the block (visiting with his neighbors) and caring for the many shrubs and flowers around the house.
Calling hours will be Friday August 26th from 6-9 p.m. and one hour prior to the funeral service. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 27th conducted by Pastor Joe Peters at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home.
