Howard Eugene Blasiman

June 30, 1937 — March 2, 2017

Howard Eugene Blasiman, age 79, of Alliance, passed away Thursday, March 2, 2017.
He was born June 30, 1937, in Louisville, Ohio, to William G. and Clara M. (Flitcraft) Blasiman.
Howard was a 1955 graduate of Alliance High School and then served in the United States Air Force. He was stationed at Bunker Hill Air Force Based in Peru, Indiana, from 1961-1964, with the 305th Bomb Wing 8th Air Force Strategic Air Command. From 1968, until retiring in 1989, he was a Firefighter at the Ravenna Arsenal. In 1973, Howard started his own Fire Equipment Sales and Service Company, and was employed as a bus driver for Marlington Schools for 38 years.
He was a member of Maranatha Church of God, a past member of Finance Committee and Board of Trustees; Gideon's International,
Stark County Firefighter's Association, Portage County Firefighter's Association, a charter member of Lexington Fire Department, 40 & 8 Branch of American Legion La Societe De 40 Hommes et chevauz, and a high blood donor for the American Red Cross.
Howard was a Chaplain for American Legion 10th district for two years; Stark County Chaplain for 18 years; Assistant Chaplain and Chaplain for American Legion 10th District for 15 years; and past Commander for four years of American Legion Post 166.
He was a life member of NRA; American Legion Post 166; Vietnam Veterans of American #157; 8th Air Force Historical Society Inc.; 305th Bombardment Group; Grissom Air Museum; APCO Fish and Wildlife Conservation Club in Ravenna; International B-24 Liberator Club.
He is survived by his three sons, Ronald E. (Lynette) Blasiman of Alliance, Rev. Curtis A. ( Carrie) Blasiman of Upland, Indiana, and Mark S. (Lisa) Blasiman of Lima; 11 grandchildren, Andrew Blasiman, Kylene Mesaros, Trisha Kirkpatrick, Kristen Goldfarb, Edwin Blasiman, Amy Blasiman, Adam Blasiman, Isaac Blasiman, Gabriel Blasiman, Sarah Blasiman and Paul Blasiman; 9 great-grandchildren; brother, Harry E. Blasiman of Maximo; sister, Mary Louise Anderson of Alliance; many nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews.
Howard was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Ronald J. "Tiny" Blasiman, and William G. Blasiman Jr.
Services will be held Thursday, March 9, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Pastor Lt. Matt Hamilton officiating. Friends may call from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday with a last alarm service to be held at 7 p.m.
Interment will be at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Maranatha Church of God, 14289 Edison St NE, Alliance.
