Howard A. Mangus, age 84, of Homeworth, died at 11:15 p.m. Tuesday December 7, 2004 at Mercy Medical Center.
He was born August 19, 1920 in Homeworth, Ohio to Vernon and Ruth (Noble) Mangus and was a lifelong area resident.
Mr. Mangus worked as a mechanic at Davidson Chevrolet, and was employed at Alliance Machine as a truck driver before retiring from Transue and Williams Stamping Division in 1982 as a spot welder. He enjoyed working on and collecting old cars.
He was a member of Middle Sandy Presbyterian Church, and was a U.S. Army W.W.II veteran.
Survivors include his wife Virginia (Fisher) Mangus, whom he married Feb. 15, 1992; children, Kenneth (Amy) Mangus of Alliance, Linda (Scott) McDonald of Salem and Mark (Melanie) Mangus of Salem, ten grandchildren; Allen, Allison, Andrew, Alexander, Cherie, Michael, Matthew, Lisa, Stacy and Eric, seven great-grandchildren; Zachary, Aubrey, Jayleigh, Hannah, Alivia, Haylee and Corey, one sister, Mable Ankrom, of Alliance, and one step-daughter Linda (Steven) Buck of Louisville.
Mr. Mangus was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Faye, who died in 1991, one son, Ronald and one brother, Edward.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Pastor Thomas Sawyer officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park.
