Ida Mae (Kennedy) Dike, age 86, of Alliance, died at 11:01 a.m. Thursday, April 29, 2010 at her home.
She was born February 15, 1924 in Braselton, Georgia to Herschel and Lola (Irvin) Kennedy. She attended Oakwood High School in Georgia and was employed as manager for the health and beauty aids department for 24 years at Buds Department Store, also known as Alliance Family Center, Super Center and Dynamic Discount Store. She was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church. Ida loved to garden and share its bounty with her family, friends and neighbors. She also had a passion for preparing large meals for her family and all were welcome at her table, day or night. She is survived by her children; Carol Dike Dennis of Alliance; Charles E. (Loretta) Dike of Hillsboro, Oregon and Robert A. Dike of Alliance; grandchildren, Devin Dennis and Ashley Dennis of Alliance; Melissa Thomas of Hillsboro, Oregon, Robert Dike of Eugene, Oregon, Valerie Carroll of Portland, Oregon, Becky Dike of Beaverton, Oregon, Jennifer Petersdorf of Lacey, Washington, Olivia Dike of Hillsboro, Oregon, and Adam Dike and Kathryn Dike, of Alliance; seven great-grandchildren, Charles, Davis, Kaylee, Jaykob, Owen, Amanda, and Annie.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and siblings, Myrtice Kennedy, Lester Kennedy, Vaughan Kennedy, Scott Kennedy, Lyman Kennedy, Frank Kennedy and Louise Kennedy.
Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, May 2, 2010 at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Pastor Jim McCurdy officiating. Friends may call from 1:00 - 2:30 p.m. Sunday. Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park on Monday.
