Ila H. Chalfant, age 86, of Alliance, died at 7:40 p.m. Monday, March 10, 2008 at Alliance Community Hospital.
She was born in Guysville, Ohio April 23, 1921 to Nathan B. and Jessie Mae Marquis Tucker. She resided in Berlin Center from 1953 to 1973 and returned to Alliance in the 1980's.
Ila and her late husband, Paul were the original owners of Berlin Center Dairy Isle.
She is survived by her daughter, Betty Marlene Stevens of Middleburg, Fla.; son, Larry (Sharon) Chalfant, of Randolph grandchildren, Angela and Michael Whiteside, Billy and Beverly Lewis, Scott (Jennifer) Lewis, Larry Chalfant Jr. and Debbie Chalfant, Wesley and Elizabeth Chalfant, Traci and Jeff May; step grandchildren; Mysti Stevens, Stefanie and Colin Kanz, Amanda Wickham, six great-grandchildren; eight step-great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews; and a special friend, John Lester Goldner.
Ila is preceded by her parents; her husband, Paul R. Chalfant, whom she married December 27, 1940 and who died in 1988; eight brothers; and one sister.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday March 14, 2008 at New Baltimore Community Church with Rev. Ken Baker officiating. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at Berlin Center Cemetery.
