Imogene M. Poland, age 78 of Alliance, died at 11:35 a.m. Sunday Oct. 8, 2006 at Alliance Community Hospital.
She was born February 6, 1928 in Alliance to Stanton and Pearl (Yockey) Martin and was a lifelong resident.
Imogene graduated from Alliance High School and attended Mount Union College. She was employed as an Accounting Manager for the former Crane Co. from 1969-1990; was formerly employed at McCaskey Register; and worked at Cunningham Industries Inc. for 15 years.
Mrs. Poland was a member of the Women's Bowling International and was secretary for over 30 years; served on the Board of Directors of the Alliance Women's Bowling Association for more than 12 years; was a former member of the Alliance Women's club, former volunteer at Rockhill Elementary and enjoyed watching the Cleveland Indians and Browns. During W.W. II, Imogene worked as a welder for the former Alliance Wall.
She is survived by one daughter, Sharlene (Steve) Moore of Alliance; three grandsons, Ryan, Shane and Trent Moore; two sisters Elouise (John) Hyre of Warren, OH and Dorothy "Parky" Frahm of Huntsville, TX; one brother Lawson (Dorothy) Martin of Annandale, VA and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Merle O. Poland, whom she married July 27, 1946, and who died Nov. 18, 1993 and two brothers Dale and Stanton Martin Jr.
A celebration of her life will be held at her home, 1605 S. Seneca, Alliance on Friday from 5- 10 p.m.
