Imogene E. McDaniel, age 67, of Sebring, passed away suddenly at her home Friday, Sept. 1, 2006.
She was born July 10, 1939 in Alliance, Ohio to Blaine and Ethel (Lapp) Springer.
Mrs. McDaniel graduated from Alliance High School and worked as a Nurses' Aid at the former Alliance City Hospital, and the former Sun Valley Nursing Home. She also worked at Altercare of Alliance, practiced home health care, and was a former greeter at Wal-Mart.
She was a life member of First Baptist Church, where she was a member of the church choir, nurture committee, pre-school teacher, past Sunday school superintendent, played in church music programs, served on the mission board, was a former day-care teacher, and served on various boards and committees over the years.
Mrs. McDaniel played the viola with the Alliance Symphony Orchestra, the Alliance Youthful Symphony, the First Christian Church Orchestra of Canton, and most recently played with the Canton Comic Opera. In addition, she played for various church pageants throughout the Canton to Canfield areas.
She was also a member of the Mahoning County Board of Elections.
Survivors include four daughters, Veronica (Roger) Krug of Clinton, Oh., Andrea Thomas of Medina, Ethel (Dana) Rummel of Alliance, Rachel (Mike) Ward of Rootstown; three sons, Gary B. Clark of Houston, Tx., Len (Jean) Rigney of Alliance, and Rex R. Rigney of Sebring; ten grandchildren, Jakob Krug, Leigh Ann (Tom) Kaiser, Eric Springer, Tony Fluharty, Jamie Rigney, Travis Rummel, and Cody Rigney; one great-granddaughter, Alexis Rigney; one step-daughter, Vickie Daniels of Canton; one step-son, Terry McDaniel of Sugarcreek; four step-grandchildren, Justin, Alan and Marcus Rummel, and Patrick Myers; one sister, Edie (Royal) Springer of Alliance; three nieces; two nephews; two aunts; and one uncle.
Mrs. McDaniel was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Irving W. McDaniel, whom she married July 11, 1981, and who died March 11, 2004, and one granddaughter, Candice Fluharty.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church with Pastor Gordon Thomas officiating. Friends may call at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, and one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park.
