Iris Bartchy, age 81 of Alliance, and formerly of Sebring, died at 1:35 p.m. Sunday January 2, 2005 at Alliance Community Hospital.
Mrs. Bartchy was born in Kiev, Ukraine (Soviet Union) on May 7, 1923 to Andrew and Alexandria (Lubda) Buhrin. Mrs. Bartchy lived in Alliance and Sebring since 1950, and worked as an assembly worker at Alliance Manufacturing until retiring in 1966.
She was a former member of First United Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by one son, Ray (Gail Zimmerman) Iwanesky of Bay Head, New Jersey, one daughter, Alexandra (John) Mallen, of Manhattan, New York, and three grandchildren, Chase, Jason and Zoe.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Kenneth K. Bartchy, whom she married Nov. 19, 1960, and who died Sept. 17, 1992.
Services will be held at 8:00 a.m. Thursday at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. William Sadler officiating. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday. Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Tsunami Relief Fund.
