Iris E. Coleman, age 84, of Atwater, died at her home at 6:25 p.m., March 29, 2007.
Iris was born Feb. 13, 1923 in Akron to Joseph W. and Bernice V. (Hill) Johnson and lived in the vicinity for 50 years.
She was a graduate of West High School and the University of Akron. She worked in the cashier's department at Firestone for many years.
In 1964, Iris married Robert P. Coleman, and together they owned and operated a dairy farm.
Iris was a member of the First Church of Christ Scientist in Alliance and liked to play the piano.
Survivors include her son; Peter J. Coleman of Alliance and Japan; stepson, William R. Coleman of Columbus; three grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; sister, Bernice V. Barbarossa of Alliance; and many nieces & nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Robert P. Coleman, whom she married Dec. 4, 1964, and who died May 18, 2000; sister Marion Bowman, and brother Allan Johnson.
A special thank you to Bonnie and Dan, Cindy, Kathy, Amy, and Sarah for their loving care and compassion; whom showed Iris nothing but love and kindness.
Services will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian with Bernice V. Barbarossa officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Atwater Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to PAPAL - Portage Co. Animal Protective League, Happy Trails Animal Sanctuary, or the charity of the donor's choice.
