Jack Sanford Leister, age 89, of Alliance, died at 7:10 a.m. Tuesday, June 12, 2007 at Alliance Community Hospital.
He was born January 15, 1918 in Canton, Ohio to Harry Leister and Grace (Donaldson) Leister Gallaher.
Jack was a 1935 graduate of Alliance High School and attended Mount Union College. He was a member of the First Christian Church for 77 years, former member of the Board of Trustees and First Christian Church Elder and Board Member, member of Masonic Conrad Lodge 271 and former member of Alliance Country Club.
He was a Division Manager at United Cooperatives, Inc. for 28 years, and later Director of Sales at Valley Forge, Inc. of Salem for 14 years before retiring. Jack was a U.S. Army Veteran after serving in WWII.
Jack enjoyed playing golf, traveling and music. He played trumpet and sang in several musical organizations and for many dance bands.
Survivors include his wife Elvira "Sis" (Eberhard) Leister of 72 years whom he married May 11, 1935; son, Craig (Susan) Leister of Columbus; and sister Winifred Helm of Bloomfield Hills, Mi; daughter-in-law, Belinda "BJ" (Sheffield) Leister; five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Harry Leister; and son, Jack Leister Jr.
Services will be held at a later date.
