Jackie (Leatherwood) Schide, born August 5, 1925 in Akron, Ohio, passed away peacefully in her home on February 8, 2017. Jackie lived in Akron (Ellet), Ohio until about five years ago when she and her devoted husband (Max) of 68 years moved to Alliance, Ohio to be closer to their daughter, Sherry. Jackie was a nursery school teacher for Cathy Lynn Day Nursery School many, many years ago. Several years later she attended Beauty School and was a beautician at Ellet Styling Salon. Jackie was a wonderful mom, grandma and great-grandma. She loved being with her four great-grandsons, whom she saw almost weekly. Jackie was very artistic, a wonderful seamstress, a great baker (especially known for her coconut and banana cream pies that the "Wohlwend sisters would fight over"), and a very positive woman with a very strong will! She was a great Role Model for her daughter, Sherry, who especially realized her mom's strong will and determination as each year passed by and her mom was able to meet each new physical challenge with such optimism and determination.
Jackie always had a very significant laugh that could be identified by all who knew her as soon as they entered the room. She was as lovely on the inside as she was on the outside. She was meticulous in every single thing she ever did.
Jackie leaves behind her caring daughter, Sherry (Schide) Hustus and super-supportive son-in-law, Nick Hustus, grandsons, Eric (Lila) Wohlwend and Greg (Ashley) Wohlwend and great grandsons, Deven, Ethan, Lucas and Matthew Wohlwend. She also leaves behind her sister, Sandy Kurty, of Austin, TX, sister, Loretta Adamson of Akron, OH and brother, Nelson Leatherwood (Marlene) of Phoenix, AZ. Jackie also leaves behind her loving nieces Kris Kovach and Lora Spaulding of Austin, TX and Darlene Jesneck and Dawn Phillips of Virginia.
Jackie was pre-deceased by her husband of 68 years, Max Schide, her Mom, Marion Helmick, her Dad, Hubert Leatherwood, her brother, James Leatherwood and sister-in-law, Erma Leatherwood, brothers-in-law Steve Kurty and John Adamson and step-sister, Betty (Ruckman) Benson.
Jackie was the "ideal" mom and wife in her daughter's eyes. She will be missed every day by her family and "very special friend and caregiver" Shirley Rosser.
