Jacqueline (Anderson) Benincasa, age 89, of Alliance, passed away to be with her husband, John, at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, May 17, 2014, at Bel-Air Care Center.
She was born May 15, 1925, in Alliance, Ohio, to James L. and Daisy Aileen (Lane) Anderson.
Jacqueline "Jackie" was a graduate of Mount Union College with a double major in Music and English.
She was very active in the local community, including receiving a 1000 hour certificate as a volunteer with the Alliance Community Hospital Auxiliary. She loved music and sang in the adult choir of the Union Avenue United Methodist Church of which she was a member for more than 40 years.
She was also past president of the Alliance Jayceettes and served in leadership positions in the Alpha Delta Pi Sorority, Alliance Meals on Wheels, Alliance Women's Club and Town and Country Gardeners of Alliance.
Survivors include her sons, Timothy C. Benincasa of Lexington, KY and J. Scott Benincasa of Alliance; three grandchildren, Amy (Aaron) Maslin of Plainfield, Il, Emily (Andrew) Chervenak of Cleveland and Victoria Benincasa of San Francisco, Ca; and two great-grandchildren, Jacquelin Maslin and Alexander Maslin.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John Benincasa whom she married March of 1950 and who died March 30, 2014; son, Douglas Benincasa; sisters, Mary Armstrong and Patricia Walborn; and brother, James Anderson.
Jackie's family would like to extend "Special Thanks" to the Bel-Air Care Center for their marvelous care as well as extraordinary love and compassion given to Jackie.
Services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, May 23, 2014, at Union Avenue United Methodist Church with Rev. Coralee Cox officiating. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, May 22, 2014, at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home. Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer's Association 408 9th St. SW Canton, OH 44707.
