James Monroe Cash Jr., age 72, of Atwater, passed away Wednesday, March 9, 2011, at his home after a courageous battle with cancer. He was surrounded by family, whom he cherished greatly.
He was born in Ellet, Ohio, to James Monroe, Sr. and Bessie Virginia (Puckett) Cash, and has resided in Atwater since 1947.
James was a graduate of Atwater High School and a machinist for Monarch Rubber until his retirement.
An avid woodworker, he loved antiques, horses and western themed items. He also enjoyed reading historical books, especially about the "Old West", spending time with his family, and especially his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Judy Elaine (Jones) Cash of Atwater; children, Jody Lynn (Jeff) Wilt of Charlestown, Janet Sue Cash of Atwater, Janine Nanette (Charles) Orth of Randolph, Jason Daniel (Judi) Cash of Atwater and Jennifer Nicole (Steve) Cash of Cincinnati; twelve grandchildren; and siblings, Bettie Brothers of Tallmadge, Ray Cash of Aurora, Co., Howard Cash of Manhattan, Mt., Butch Cash of Columbiana, and Linda Ryan of Cuyahoga Falls.
James was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jerry; three sisters Fay, Pat and Marilyn; and a grandson, David "Luke".
Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday and Noon to 1 p.m. Sunday at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, March 13, 2011, with John Ryan officiating.
Any donations will be applied to a family memorial.
