James D. Davis, age 74, of Homeworth, passed away at 2:35 a.m. Wednesday, January 13, 2010, at Alliance Community Hospital.
He was born December 25, 1935 in Gassaway, WV, to John H. and Zela Grace (McTheney) Davis.
Jim was employed as a meat manager at Krogers and Giant Eagle before retiring in 1999.
A United States Army Veteran, Jim was a member of the First Christian Church, He loved being with his family, playing golf and going fishing.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara S. (Slaughter) Davis of Homeworth, whom he married June 25, 1955; his children, Penny Lee (Todd Noethen) Davis of Columbus, James K. (Denise) Davis of Brookpark, Mark E. (Kris) Davis of Olmsted Falls, Blaine C. (Laura) Davis of Strongsville, Michael D. (Nada) Davis of Longview, TX, Matthew R. (Patricia McDonald) Davis of Tampa, Fla., and Melissa A. (Brian) DeMarco of South Elgin, Ill; sixteen grandchildren, Cameron, Zachary, Jacob, Caitlyn, Jessica, Sam, Megan, Luke, Nick, Kristina, Stevan, Andrijana, Azmera, Alicia, Sarah and Allyson.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 16, 2010 at First Christian Church with Pastor Pam Bruno officiating. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church.
Interment will be at Fairmount Memorial Park.
